Empire State of Mind.

Looks like you don’t have to be a New Yorker to have an EMPIRE state of mind.  California’s Bay Area Bhangra Empire – Dance Team is working on building an Empire of their own.

When Empire’s Team Manager Omer Mirza asked me to design their business cards, I immediately said “what’s in it for me?”  [just kidding... kinda.]

Mirza was clear with his request: “I want something dope and elegant. Make it Happen.”

Ok, done and done. [I hope!] He wanted to flirt with the use of alliteration on this one – hence the several “E” words to Exemplify Empire’s Exhilarating Entertaining & Entrepreneurial Endeavors.

After being invited to perform at the First State Dinner for President Obama, and winning a myriad of different dance competitions – it was clear that this Empire meant business .  How else better to convey this than through their business cards?

They were able to use them during their auditions for America’s Got Talent!

See them in action as they Exude Energy below.

In other news – you can enroll in dance classes they teach if you’re in the Bay Area.  They’re also available to perform at weddings! [so long as Paper Daydream is doing your wedding stationery =D ]

Street Lights, Big DREAMS all looking pretty… Let’s hear it for…

Just Like a Prayer

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Last year, I did a line of Eid Greeting Cards in Silver & Black. I was going for a contemporary-vintage-baroque look. Not so much Madonna – but more like me.  I scoured the internet and never found Eid Cards that matched my unpretentiously luxurious style.  That being said, I opted to design my own.  {I mean, it is what I does after all} Seeing how it’s now 13 days into Ramadan [but who's counting],  I thought this was perfect timing.

Actually, ain’t gonna lie, what really reminded me of these cards – was an email I got from my friend Sarah Aleem, with the picture featured below attached.  Still hung on her bulletin board next to a picture of her and her sister – AND  a LUCKY coupon!  I was so happy to see this preserved.  She is indeed still in my prayers!

Any requests/ideas for this years Eid Cards??

Just like a prayer, I’ll take you there.

OOuooh Wee! …do we like how it shines?      Humor me, and say yes!

I did these in Turquoise, Fuschia, Orange, Violet and Green.  The front logo matches the full bleed respective color on the back. Embellished with a swarovski crystal on each card – I was hoping this would embody Paper Daydream’s brand.
