Genie In A Bottle.

I think I spent more time and energy in planning my sister’s bridal shower than some people put into planning their own weddings. Yah. I was SO excited my big sister was getting married, this was the first thing I couldn’t wait to do for her. She didn’t really have a choice @ the theme though. Yah. I told her it was going to be Arabian Nights…

“you cool with that?”
“ok”
“perff…I’m gonna make you look like Jasmine!”
“ok, but I’m not even engaged.”
“so.”
Yup, that’s pretty much what happened.

I wanted to send out genie bottles as invitations [My attempts pictured above.]

So I spray painted and blinged out clear plastic cork bottles and rolled up the invitation with purple metallic gift wrap shreds inside to create that jeweled toned-genie feel. [FYI – I LOVE spray paint! I think I was a gangsta’ graffiti artist in a past life…or at least in some parallel universe.]

For the favors, I decided mini hand blown glass perfume bottles would be good because it would look like Genie Bottles. So I kinda had it shipped from Egypt. I didn’t have to do any rush shipping considering how I ordered it like 2 years in advance.

Anyways, I wanted to take her on a magic carpet ride because she’s my only sister, and I love her to death. So I hope she enjoyed it!
I had a friend come over to help hang stuff up…I bought fabrics ahead of time in bright jeweled toned shades to get that luxurious Moroccan modern feel.

Then I bought flowers to match the same color palette. I also had a belly dancing instructor come over to teach the girls how to dance…yah, I should’ve asked for a picture before I hired her. I’m jus’ sayin’.

I made food labels for all the desserts. [Btw, this was in 2007!]

And here are the favors with the favor tags I made.

I made custom bridal bingo boards – fully equipped with my sister’s picture as an option. hah. I made my poor amazing cousin Muneezeh finish them by rearranging the board so there’d be no duplicates! So tedious.

And last, but not least…my beautiful sister on her throne =] [Yes, I bought all those pillows for this shower too.]
