Branding Design:: Rubina’s Cake Shoppe

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

We were so excited to work on the logo and branding concept for Rubina’s Cake Shoppe! {revamp from her shop previously known as “Rubina’s Cakes.”}

After confirming the color palette of a rose pink and chocolate brown, we thought we’d add a touch of a modern-artistic-painterly look. We initially had the logo just include the hand-drawn swirl on top, so it would look like a somewhat abstracted cupcake top, but without the bottom wrapper, it could have easily been mistaken for a ice cream sundae…We obviously added the bottom wrapper extend from her shop name. The polka-dots were a no-brainer. A little mod, a little girly, and totally trendy…and voila, Rubina’s Cake Shop relaunch had begun.

I’m really behind on posting these pictures that her and her hubby so graciously sent over, so my apologies on the delay!

Rubina was a featured vendor showcasing at the “3rd Annual Valentine Romance “Sneak Peek” Oscar® Gifting Party” in Beverly Hills, this past February!

With the event styling by Hello Kismet Events, PaperDaydream designs, and the beautifully delicious Cake Truffles and Fabulously Sculpted cakes by Rubina, I’d say the event looked like a success. Below is the gorgeous Shop Owner and Pastry Chef herself with a few of Hollywood’s familiar faces, including Kevin Eubanks from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Vivica A. Fox {Kill Bill, Booty Call}, and Kiowa Gordon of Twilight: New Moon & Twilight: Eclipse. Everyone loved how amazing her cakes were, Oscar Nuñez from the hit show The Office even commissioned her to create his wedding cake!

Feel free to contact her to sweeten up your day, and your next event.

Key To My Heart.

Monday, February 14th, 2011

The key to my heart…or something like that. Valentine’s Love Social Stationery Part Deux.

I was inspired by the Tiffany’s Key Pendant, I’ve been eyeing daily. I decided to theme this design around a vintage key. I came up with 2 different love notes/copy text to go with it.  I personally like the semi-mean one better than the sugary-sweet one. But my inability to emote is probably why I am biased. Oh, and we added a lil’ something on the back of our signature for the limited edition Valentine’s Day Cards.

Next year, these will be available in letterpress. For now – it’s available in silver or cream, with the option of 2 different messages.

Enjoy!

Sealed With A Kiss.

Monday, February 14th, 2011

I woke up one morning with this concept for my Valentine’s Card.  {My ipod alarm clock happened to be playing Trey Songz’s Red Lipstick, that may have had some influence.} I wanted the message to be “hidden” in the lip imprint, so you literally would have to read between the lines. I chose a hand-written font to make it look more scribbly and personable. While the copy I came up with is definitely more snarky than it is sweet, I hope these lip imprints will leave lasting impressions ON your recipients.

Oh, and I am slightly obsessed with Red Lipstick, particularly Lime Crime’s Retrofuturist Rouge Lipstick that I learned about on Beauty & The Feast’s Blog! So thank you for the inspiration =] {Perfect Rouge to leave these love marks…just sayin’}

I was so tempted to shoot these photos with my lingerie, {I worked at Victoria’s Secret in undergrad…} but I refrained and opted for red roses and black pumps.

Enjoy. Kisses.

Valentine Throwback

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Do you remember when we had to bring Valentine Cards and candy for EVERYONE in our class back in elementary school? Just to ensure no one would feel left out… Such a considerate thing to do! What I remember the most about the cards was that they were all so ridiculously cheesy. =] Loved how they were themed around our favorite TV shows, super heroes and random other cheesy things. So to pay homage to ‘back in the days’ and to tribute all the little ones out there {Elementary school and younger!} here’s a Throwback Valentine just for Choo…You!

By the way – The ONLY reason I even did this thing was because my co-worker came up with the hilariously clever copy that he heard from The Simpson’s, for this after we worked on the Blu-ray menus for Chuggington: Let’s Ride The Rails! Perfect pairing.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
